A Christmas Prayer

Dearest Jesus, hear my prayer
Though so long overdue,
It's Christmas-time 'most everywhere
With humble thoughts towward You.

We thank You for each day we live
And for each breath we take,
And when we're wrong You still forgive
Whatever, the mistake.

What other love upon this earth
Could ever be so true,
No other friend would prove their worth
The way You always do!

For those who aren't so rich in wealth
I pray their needs be met,
And then for those in failing health
Your healing, may they get.

And may I better try to be
An example from above,
For God I want You proud of me
For Your undying love.

And now I thank You for Your time
You've spent with me again,
Forgive me that I prayed in rhyme
"Happy Birthday, Christ," amen.
