A Wedding Poem

The year was nineteen thirty eight
In early morning-time,
And now to just commemorate
I'll write this wedding rhyme.

Their chosen church was all aglow
With friends and family there,
And blessings they did all bestow
As "vows" they both did share.

It was a lovely winter day
With not a cloud in sight,
And they were dressed in fine array
With everything just right.

They gathered up their dollars few
And had a small fanfare,
It really was a fun to-do
With not a fret or care.

They shared a lot throughout the years
Sometimes the road was rough,
They conquered war, and death and fears
And proved their love was tough.

But still the years do have a way
Of bringing back the past,
They're love just grows more strong each day
Forever, it will last.
