The Meaning Of Christmas
'Twas long ago one starry night
That Jesus Christ was born,
And unto us it brought new light
To which some still do scorn.
There in the manger where He lay
Folks came from near and far,
For what had guided them that way
Was light from that one star.
Oh little Jesus, Holy Child
Whom God sent from above,
To save the sinners meek or vile
With His redeeming love.
Why is it only once a year
We celebrate His birth,
For He would feel quite lonely here
If He returned to Earth.
Some people never seem to pause
To praise His Holy name,
They think it's all for Santa Claus
And play the children's game.
I guess we're all quite guilty though
Of over decorating,
With all the lights and mistletoe
And falsely celebrating.
We each should search within our hearts
And share this time with Him,
For Christmas time right from the start
Began in Bethlehem.
Without the star that shown so bright
And birth of that great King,
There'd be no song: "Oh Holy Night"
Or, "The Herald Angels Sing".
May this year be a special one
Don't leave the Christ child out,
For God sent us His only Son
That's what it's all about!
