In the wake of the events of September 11, 2001, I, as well as many other Americans, have felt helpless. We've done what we can, when we can. We've donated money, blood, clothes, time, and energy. We've cried, prayed, hoped and dreamed. We've become one. A nation united. We've seen many pictures of the countries around the world who are also hurting, who are with us in spirit. I don't know about the rest of you, but it warmed my heart to see so many other countries paying tribute to our heroes. We've seen countries other than our own, flying the American flag. We saw a special Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace where they played our National Anthem instead of God Save the Queen ... and the many Brits standing at the gates, crying just as we were. We've seen almost every nation pay tribute in one way or another. So, along with being proud to be an American, I'm also proud to be a citizen of Planet Earth. May we soon have peace on our wonderful planet.
In the pages that follow, I've gathered poems and pictures and stories that have been e-mailed to me, or that are freely available on the web. Some poems are being used with permission of the author, so please don't copy those. They'll be marked with the author's copyright. These pages are my therapy, as well as my tribute to all who have been affected by 9-11.
