It Happens Every Time

When the evening sun is setting
And darkness fills the night,
You can always see the "Lilly house"
For in every room there's light.

If you listen very closely
I'm sure you could hear,
The singing of seven girls voices
And the piano notes so clear.

In another room was Billy
Seated with his art,
He'd be sitting at a table
Drawing with all his heart.

And then came Danny so very small
I think he was only five,
But he was big enough anyhow
To keep things really alive.

And when the big old clock struck ten
We all knew what to do,
'Cause Daddy got the Bible down
And read a scripture or two.

Then we would all race up the stairs
To see which one could beat,
We'd get in such an uproar
We'd step on each others feet.

The next night we'd do the very same thing
I've written in this rhyme,
And it was fun 'til they all left home
But it happens every time.
